Let’s start with brass tacks.
But, of course, there is more to me
(and us all) than work done with clients.
Here are a few things I care about.
Films & Community
I love movies and how they bring people together. You can catch me in the group chat posting my daily Cinematrix puzzle. I also organize a yearly fantasy league around the summer box office called the Summer Movie Wager. Finally, a few years back, I designed an app with some friends that helps couples decide what movies to watch called BingeMates. I promise it isn’t my whole personality.
Music
I love concerts and discovering new music. It is often the spark that helps me find the emotional connection in life and in work. I make a new seasonal playlist four times a year to mark the time and keep myself inspired and connected.
Spiritual & Social Health
I care deeply about – and design for the profit and promotion of – the work of social and spiritual community organizations. I’ve been involved with the DuPage Foundation and YWCA through agency work, as well as pro bono for the Poor People’s Campaign and churches at which I’ve been a member. If you have a good cause and a tightly defined scope, let’s talk!
Family
My wife and kid are my favorite people. I don’t have any kind of creative practice tied to this one, but they are the priority of my life.
These are the most common emoji reactions I get in Slack when I post yet another pun.

Intangibles matter.
Talent and results are table-stakes.
Intangibles are what make the difference.
What it will be like to actually work with this person every day?
What does it mean to give them influence over the work and culture of others?
Can they learn the business?
Can they work across disciplines?
Can they unify a team?
Can they still excel getting into the creative work?
Can they make hard calls?
These are the kinds of questions I’d care about when hiring.
Good answers to those questions are the kinds of standards I hold myself to.
I’d love a chance to discuss more with you. Puns optional.
